Anti-B4GALT3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein beta-1,4-galactosyltransferase 3. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 393 amino acid residues and a mass of 43.9 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the Golgi. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in many tissues, such as the bone marrow, stomach, and appendix. A member of the Glycosyltransferase 7 protein family, B4GALT3 is known to be important for the synthesis of complex-type N-linked oligosaccharides in many glycoproteins as well as the carbohydrate moieties of glycolipids. Synonyms for this target antigen include N-acetyllactosamine synthase, UDP-Gal:beta-GlcNAc beta-1,4-galactosyltransferase 3, UDP-Gal:betaGlcNAc beta 1,4- galactosyltransferase, polypeptide 3, and beta4Gal-T3. B4GALT3 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some B4GALT3 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
