Anti-BMP3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein bone morphogenetic protein 3. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 472 amino acid residues and a mass of 53.4 kDa. It has been described to be a secreted protein. It is reported to be expressed in adult and fetal cartilage. A member of the TGF-beta protein family, BMP3 is reported to be a growth factor of the TGF-beta superfamily that plays an essential role in developmental process by inducing and patterning early skeletal formation and by negatively regulating bone density. Synonyms for this target antigen include bone morphogenetic protein 3 (osteogenic), bone morphogenetic protein 3A, osteogenin, and BMP-3A. BMP3 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of BMP3 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
