Anti-MDA5 antibodies detect the protein encoded by the gene IFIH1, or 'interferon induced with helicase C domain 1' in humans. The 1025-amino acid protein is a member of the Helicase family, RLR subfamily. The cellular localization is predicted to be cytoplasmic and nuclear.
