Anti-Solute carrier family 6 member 12 antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene SLC6A12 in humans. The gene may also be known as BGT1, BGT-1, GAT2, sodium- and chloride-dependent betaine transporter, and Na(+)/Cl(-) betaine/GABA transporter. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 69.4 kilodaltons in mass. The SLC6A12 marker can be used to identify Brain Vascular Non-Neuronal Cells.* Based on gene name, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
