Anti-CD36 antibodies are available for the flow cytometric detection of the target protein, 'CD36 molecule'. In humans, the CD36 gene encodes a protein 472 amino acids in length with a mass of 53.1 kDa. It is a member of the class B scavenger receptor family and functions in long-chain fatty acid uptake and signaling. Synonyms for this protein include CHDS7, FAT, BDPLT10, GP3B, GP4, GPIV, PASIV, SCARB3, and GP88. CD36 orthologs have been reported in the following species: mouse, bovine, canine, chicken, chimpanzee, guinea pig, horse, rabbit, rhesus monkey, zebrafish. CD36 antibodies can serve as useful tools for identifying populations of immune cells, such as macrophages and dendritic cells, by flow cytometry.
