We use the stereotaxic device with the Digital Stereotaxic Manipulator Arms for mouse stereotactic surgeries, such as microdialysis probe implantations and AAV delivery.

Performance, Range, and Accuracy

The digital stereotaxic system is highly accurate and reduces the risk of manual error. There is no routine maintenance required other than cleaning, given its use in a surgical area. The system can be installed by the company onto the existing non-digital stereotaxic model.

Throughput, Workflow Efficiency, and Automation

The digital stereotaxic system eliminates a significant amount of manual work. You place the instrument on the starting landmark, then select the option on the screen to zero the coordinates (e.g., zeroing at bregma). You can then move to the target brain region while monitoring the coordinates on the screen. This saves a significant amount of time and makes surgeries faster, which is very important for mouse survival during surgical procedures. In comparison, when using a manual stereotaxic system, one has to manually calculate the coordinates required to reach the target brain region, which is time-consuming.

Sample Integrity and Consumable Requirements

We connect holders for microdialysis probes and holders for the Nanoject to the Digital Manipulator Arm, depending on the type of surgery being performed. We do not have any operational costs associated with the Digital Manipulator Arm.

Footprint, Facilities, and Daily Maintenance

The instrument is compact and fits well on the lab bench dedicated to surgeries. The instrument should be cleaned after each surgery. We spray 70% ethanol onto a paper towel or cotton swab and gently wipe down the surfaces. The company performs the installation required to upgrade the existing stereotaxic device to a digital system.
