Results Summary

We easily and efficiently isolated total RNA from cultured cells. The RNA yield was good and sufficient for first-strand cDNA synthesis. The protocol is very easy and less time consuming (1 hour protocol).

TRIzol Reagent (Invitrogen, Carlsbad, CA) is very apt to isolate total RNA from tissues or cells, including lipid-rich and difficult samples. Moreover, Trizol can also be used to isolate DNA and protein from it's organic phase. The protocol is very simple and results are consistent. However, little optimization (for Trizol volume to be taken) may be needed due to different cell and tissue types of the experiments.
