Results Summary

We measured TOM20 inside the hippocampal astrocytes (stained by GFAP), specifically assessing GFAP and TOM20 co-localization. The brain tissue was perfused. We utilized the Coloc function of the IMARIS software to assess the colocalization. This allowed us to evaluate mitochondrial integrity in astrocytes. The scale bar in the images is 10 µm.

Summary

The Good

The staining was consistent throughout the experiments, allowing us to visualize Tom20 protein expression patterns within astrocytes and brain tissue in general.

The Bad

Quite expensive considering the 1:50 dilution we use.

The Bottom Line

The antibody works well, but keep in mind that quite a high concentration of antibody is needed, and incubation time too (e.g., 48 hours).
