I use the Trizol reagent to isolate RNA from mammalian cells and tissues. Consistently, I achieved a robust RNA yield suitable for my RT-PCR experiments with this product. Additionally, when preparing RNA for RNAseq experiments, I have found the RNA integrity numbers to be satisfactory.
