We are interested in studying orphan metabolites that regulate mammalian energy balance. We recently found a handful of lipids that might be involved in the regulation of acetate metabolism. Using this acetate assay kit on plasma from mice injected with individual lipids, we identified a specific lipid that can elevate circulating acetate.
