Company:

Invitrogen

Product Name:

Alexa Fluor 488 chicken anti-rabbit IgG (H+L)

Catalog Number:

A-21441

Clone Number:

polyclonal chicken

This secondary anti-rabbit antibody is a decent detection tool for immunofluorescence detection. The fluorescence is usually quite bright and stable for a long time.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Applications

Immunofluorescence

Sample

Formaldehyde-fixed and permeabilised (human) cells incubated with a primary rabbit antibody

Primary Incubation

1:100, 2h, RT

Blocking Agent

2 % BSA + 1 % FCS in PBS

Secondary Incubation

1:100, 1h, RT

Tertiary Incubation

None

Detection

Confocal laser scanning microscopy (488 nm laser)

Results Summary

Quality of result largely depends on the binding quality of the primary antibody. However, with established IF rabbit antibodies the signal intensity is bright and outstandingly stable. The excitation max is at 499 nm, emission max. at 520 nm.

Additional Notes

Can be easily combined with Alexa Fluor 405, 594 and 633/647, store at +4°C or aliquots at -20°C (avoid freeze/thaw cycles).

Summary

The Good

Bright and stable signal.

The Bad

after long period of storage there is a risk of conglomerates, hence centrifugation is required to be done prior to usage.

The Bottom Line

This polyclonal chicken antibody is a good choice for your green fluorescence detection with rabbit primary IgG antibodies. Application is easy, stability and price is more than decent
