TC20 Automated Cell Counter

This equipment is a great addition to a cell culture lab. It can determine cell density in less than a minute, a real time-saver compared to a regular hematocytometer. In my lab, we use it daily. Besides counting, it also has a dilution calculator, which is very convenient when preparing flasks and plates. To determine the cell density of your solution, just mix equal parts of cell suspension and trypan blue and add 10 uL to the slide. After inserting the slide into the equipment, it automatically detects and counts live and dead cells, showing the live count percentage. It is also possible to count cells without the addition of dye. It is not necessary to dilute your samples before counting, reducing errors. There is a USB port if need to save your results.

Summary

The Good

Fast and accurate cell counting.

The Bad

Very expensive.

The Bottom Line

It is quite expensive and it requires specific counting slides from Bio-Rad but I would definitely recommend buying this cell counter if you work in a cell culture lab. This equipment will save you time and give much more accurate results compared to manual counting.
