Antibodies are produced by plasma cells (PC) that are terminally differentiated B cells and play crucial roles in host protection against infections but are considered to mediate autoimmunity in patients with rheumatic diseases, such as systemic lupus (SLE) or rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Our research aims at understanding the biology of B cells and antibody-secreting cells (ASC) in health and disease, in this experiment we are looking for markers of PC.

Here we gated lymphocytes, singlets and live cells. Within this gate we can observe that plasma cells (CD138hi) express CD319. Using CD319 and CD138 we can identify plasma cells (CD138hiCD319 +).
