I use Poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) as a copolymer in formulation used for electrospinning. Thanks to PEO I am able to create nanofibrous coatings for regenerative applications. In particular, PEO allows me to spin even polymers that usually are not possible to electrospin.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Polymer for electrospinning

Starting Material

N/A

Tips

PEO is easily soluble in most solvents.

Results Summary

Thanks to PEO I can create nanofibrous coatings using polymer that usually are not easy to electrospin. But adding specific concentrations of PEO increase the spinnability of these polymers.

Summary

The Good

Comes in powder and not pellets. So it is easy to dissolve.

The Bad

N/A

The Bottom Line

The use of PEO has helped me solving a lot of problems related to spinnability of particular polymers. PEO as copolymer decrease viscosity and helps enhancing the conductivity of the polymeric solution that needs to electrospun.
