I have used this antibody to detect activity of neurons from an animal model of inflammatory pain in the brain. It has worked very well in mouse sample.

Incubation was done with Ab diluted to 1:1,000 for 16h at 4ºC
BSA 4% in PBS
Incubation was done with 2nd Ab diluted to 1:1,000 for 3h at room temperature

In all cases reactivity is quite good at 1:1,000 dilution. This protein is detected only in neurons that are active at the moment of tissue collection. I have captured the attached image in my confocal to show expression of this protein in the mouse hippocampus (please see my paper for details).

It may result in false negative data due to lack of enough cell activity.
