CD31 is expressed in the surface of the endothelial cell forming the capillary system. This antibody gives a very sharp and string signal in immunoflourescent imaging of renal tissues vasculature.

Fluorescence/confocal microscopy
This antibody allowed us to visualise the vascular component of the kidney. In pathologic condition, the fenestrated capillaries embedded in the renal glomerulus are exposed to strong mechanical stretching. If the stimulation persist for long time (chronic hypertension/hyperglycaemia, diabetes) the endothelial cells undergo cytoskeletal rearrangements and deregulation of gene expression.

Specific and strong signal
The antibody gives a very strong signal in the small capillaries even in the kidney, that is known to present a very strong autoflourescent background. Excellent antibody.
