These bacteria were used in in vitro killing assays, where bone marrow derived neutrophils were incubated with log growth, serum opsonised S. aureus, and then surviving bacteria grown on Agar plates and CFU counted.

You can see that the s. aureus grow nicely after 90 minutes with the heat killed neutrophils. upon addition of viable neutrophils, we see efficient killing (~50%) after 90 minutes.
