Antibodies are produced by plasma cells (PC) that are terminally differentiated B cells and play crucial roles in host protection against infections but are considered to mediate autoimmunity in patients with rheumatic diseases, such as systemic lupus (SLE) or rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Our research aims at understanding the biology of B cells and antibody-secreting cells (ASC) in health and disease, in this experiment we are looking for markers of PC.

In this work, we were looking for surface markers that are differentially expressed by B cells (CD19+) and plasma cells (PC). CD28 is not expressed by B cells, but is expressed by CD4 T cells that we use here as positive control. CD28 is expressed by T cells.
It works.
It is not bright.
This antibody is not very good, but it works.
