Senescence is a driver of age-related diseases. Our research focuses on therapies targeting senescent cells and tissues. One of the easiest and fastest ways to induce senescence in vitro cell cultures is through irradiation.

Tips

The equipment has several drawers at different distances from the laser. Even though the same intensity of irradiation can be achieved using the different drawers (using different irradiation periods), it is important to keep using the same drawer/distance from the laser throughout the study to induce senescence in the same cell line. This because, to achieve the same irradiation intensities at different distances from the laser, cells will be irradiated for different time periods, which might influence the internal pathways of senescence induction.
