NLR family CARD domain-containing protein 4 is a protein encoded by NLRC4 gene in humans. NLRC4 is also known as CLAN, IPAF, CLAN1, CLANA, CLANB, CLANC, CLAND, CARD12 and CLR2. It is a member of the Ced4/ Apaf-1 family. The NLRC4 inflammasome is activated as part of the innate immune response to a range of intracellular bacteria (By similarity).
