CD68 has been widely used as a pan-macrophage marker. CD68 is a glycosylated type I membrane protein that belongs to the lysosome-associated membrane protein family of molecules. CD68 is predominantly expressed in late endosomes and lysosomes of macrophages, but is also found on the surface of DCs and osteoclasts.
