Lipid peroxidation products are widely used as markers of oxidative damage in the organism. Oxidative stress has been implicated in pathogenesis of hypertension , diabetic retinopathy. It has been hypothesized that hypertension and hyperglycaemia may damage vascular endothelium and retina by inducing the synthesis of oxidant reactive species.
