MT-ND2 is one of the core subunit of the mitochondrial membrane respiratory chain NADH dehydrogenase (Complex I) that is essential to perform the minimal assembly required for catalysis. Complex I functions in the transfer of electrons from NADH to the respiratory chain. The immediate electron acceptor for the enzyme is believed to be ubiquinone. Defects in MT-ND2 are a cause of Leber hereditary optic neuropathy, mitochondrial encephalomyopathy with lactic acidosis and stroke-like episodes syndrome (MELAS), Alzheimer disease and diabetes mellitus . Here we checked the time course effect of chemoattractant on MT-ND2 expression.
