GATA3 is a transcription factor from the GATA family which contains zinc finger motifs involved in recognizing the canonical GATA DNA sequence. Expression of GATA3 is found in developing and mature T cells, natural killer (NK) cells, subset of NKT cells, innate lymphoid cells and endothelial cells. Primary function attributed to GATA3 is to regulate the T helper 2 (Tʜ2) cell differentiation. However, role of GATA3 is also recognized in early T cell commitment and CD4+ T cell development, and development of innate lymphoid cells type 2 (ILC2).
