Countess™ II Automated Cell Counter

Catalog Number:

AMQAX1000

Our lab studies the role of mTOR signaling in CD8 T cell differentiation and function. mTOR signaling controls the metabolic programming of T cells. Programming of T cells also involves dynamic changes in mitochondria mass and morphology. We routinely count primary T cells (murine and human) using a traditional hemacytometer. We wanted to use this automated counter to help with the process and make it faster.

Summary

The Good

No consumables are involved since re-usable slide

The Bad

Can not accurately count T cells

The Bottom Line

This instrument performs quite well for big cells like tumor cells but it can not distinguish viable or non viable T cells due to size. Therefore, this machine doesn't do well with small cells.
