BioLegend

Product Name:

Purified anti-TMEM119 (Extracellular) Antibody

Catalog Number:

853301

We are seeking to understand microglial activation in the mouse brain. This antibody is expected to stain microglia as TMEM119 is known to be a microglia specific marker. However, the result showed unspecific nuclear staining in multiple cell types in contrast to microglial specific cytoplasmic staining. To be fair, BioLegend advertises this antibody for use in human tissue, while we were using it in mouse tissue.

The Bottom Line

Does not work for murine microglia but this reactivity was not confirmed with other species. Manufacturer claims this antibody should work in human tissue.
