Company:

Thermo Fischer Scientific

Product Name:

Pierce BCA Protein Assay Kit

Catalog Number:

23225

Easy to use and creates a very precise standard curve.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

BCA assay for protein quantification

Starting Material

Protein

Protocol Overview

Make a solution of the reagents A and B at a ration of 50:1 and plate 200 µL in a clear 96-well plate. Create your standard curve with BSA and prepare your proteins. Add 10 µL of protein (from the ones you wish to measure or from the standard curve) to a well containing the BCA solution. Incubate at 37 degrees for 30 minutes. Read on a plate reader.

Tips

For this protocol, I use a standard curve from 0–2 mg/mL of protein

Results Summary

I always achieve a precise, replicable standard curve and replicable quantification measurements for my proteins.

Summary

The Good

Easy to use and you get replicable results.

The Bad

You have to use quite a bit of protein for this assay.

The Bottom Line

This is my go-to assay for protein quantification and I always use this kit for my BCA assay needs.
