Antibodies are produced by plasma cells (PC) that are terminally differentiated B cells and play crucial roles in host protection against infections but are considered to mediate autoimmunity in patients with rheumatic diseases, such as systemic lupus (SLE) or rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Our research aims at understanding the biology of antibody secreting cells (ASC) and B cells in health and disease. Here, we aimed at staining B cell subsets (CD19+) in isolated PBMCs from peripheral blood of a healthy donor (HD).

Using this anti-CD27 in combination with anti-CD20 we are able to distinguish 3 B cell subsets in PBMCs: CD27-CD20+ naive B cells; CD20+CD27+ memory B cells and CD27hiCD20- plasmablasts.
