Used for Cell Culture

We purchased the Ovation Ali Q to replace the pipet aids in our cell culture area. In theory, this item is wonderful; it has everything you want, INCLUDING automatic aliquoting. When we tested it, it was a no-brainer. However, when we started using it, 2 things stood out to us. First, it is really bulky and is not the most convenient pipet aid for one to use inside the Biosafety cabinet. Second, the push for the automatic aliquoting is really strong and causes some issues when we tried to use it in cell culture. Now we avoid the automatic aliquoting altogether. This is a fine pipet aid, but if you have specific cell culture needs, be mindful of how you handle it. When used as a regular pipet aid, it is probably slightly better than its competition, but the stand out feature should only be used when you are certain that it will not affect your experiments.
