I use the spectrophotometer for measuring bacterial growth. The spectrophotometer works great, though getting it set up can be tedious and confusing.

I mostly use this for measuring bacterial growth. I take culture and do a 1:10 dilution to a final volume of 1mL and read the OD600.

Tips

The software can be a pain, so write down the numbers as you go rather than trying to figure out how to access old runs.

Can do multi-wavelength analysis, kinetics, and quantitation. Also has a PIN you can enable to prevent people from editing your protocols or deleting your data.
