This is the 'second' shaking incubator in my microbiology laboratory - see my other review about the Amerex Gyromax 767 to read about the workhorse shaking incubator! The 737 has a shaking platform as well as an adjustable shelf. This allows students to incubate liquid cultures that require aeration along with plates. It is particularly useful for the secondary temperature needs (like 30°C in my lab) when I do not need to devote a single shaker and a single stationary incubator for a few cultures. The temperature is easily adjustable and a temperature probe placed in any spot in the incubator gives the same readout. For longer term incubation of plates, I place a small container of water on the back of the shelf, as the fan will dry out the plates after about 5 days. But the fan is the reason the temperature is so uniform! Love the universal rack on the shaker - no need for clamps, paper towels to hold odd size flasks - you can place a large flask and dozens of culture tubes in at the same time. I threw out all of those clamps and screws! Many visitors to my lab have taken a photo of this incubator! Along with a great product is terrific customer service - again, more about that in my review of the 767.
