This is a quality vortex that easily creates a liquid vortex in several sample types. The instrument is also durable, perhaps one of the most important characteristics of a bench-top vortex. The controls for the instrument are pretty standard. There is an option for it to be activated with "touch," which is the most useful setting, and normally the setting it is left to. There is also the option of an indefinite run, which can be helpful for sample requiring longer processing, as it alleviates the need to force the sample down. The analog dial is used to select a speed from 1–10.
