Western blots have been one of the most common techniques for quantifying protein expression in a biological sample. Although most WB procedures take 1-2 days to perform, nowadays companies provide reagents that can speed up the process and provided more consistent results. Here, I review the MINI Bio-Rad Trans-Blot pack for transferring a single gel onto PVDF.
WB
A375 whole-cell lysate
The pack comes with pre-stacked pads with two sections: a PVDF membrane with a pad and just a pad. All the user needs to do is to place the pad and the PVDF onto the transfer apparatus and then add the gel. The top pad can be added right on top of the PVDF to complete the gel–PVDF sandwich. A roller is used to remove any bubbles.
Can only use this to trasnfer one gel - remoive excess bubbles as needed
A Turbo transfer can be used to complete the transfer of ONE gel in ~3 mins using the Bio-Rad transfer apparatus. A standard transfer can also be done using 2 gels in ~30mins.
