Our laboratory performs many transfections of stable cell lines to produce lentiviruses for gene delivery as well as HIV virus. For high quality and titer HIV virus we use the Calcium Phosphate Transfection Kit to transfect HEK 293 T cells.

We follow the kit's protocol
Pay attention to the step of adding the DNA-CaCl2 buffer. It needs to be done very slowly, adding drop wise for high transfection efficiency.
Great kit. For some lentiviruses home made DNA-CaCl2 can also work, but for HIV virus this kit is essential to get good titers.
