The goal of our lab is to understand the effect of HIV infection on various aspects of the immune response both in vitro and in vivo. To study these phenomena in vivo, various transgenic mouse lines are utilized including those transgenic for various human and viral genes that require ongoing genotyping efforts. The extraction of adequate yields on quality DNA requires reliable extraction methods. The Qiagen Protein Precipitation Solution has proven to be highly efficient and reliable at removing protein contaminants from DNA extracts from mouse tails for our genotyping.
