Our laboratory works with different cell populations from human and mouse in effort to study HIV pathogenesis and treatment. We often purify cell populations from human PBMC or mouse spleens, bone marrow, brain etc. We use Miltenyi technology for all of our cell population isolations including the appropriate beads and a multistand with magnets that allows labelled cells to be retained to the column via magnetic interactions, while the rest of the cells go through.

If you are working with high cell numbers or processing many different tissues at once the manual separation is not ideal. The AutoMACS would be more suitable in those cases
