COX 1 (Cytochrome c oxidase 1) is a protein which is a part of Mitochondrial respiratory chain. It catalyzes the reduction of oxygen to water in the mitochondria. We sought to detect this protein in the mitochondrial extract of Hela cells and used it as a loading control.
