Our lab has purchased 3 vials of these cryo-preserved HUVECs from Cell Applications and we have found them to be identical to the ones we have isolated from umbilical cords ourselves. We have had no contamination issues and have used through passage 7. We are using these HUVECs for complement and coagulation gene expression studies.

The purchased HUVECs were free of contamination and were identical to HUVECs we had directly isolated from umbilical cords.
Follow the manufacturer suggestions
We found that the coagulation and complement gene expression patterns of the Cell Applications purchased HUVECs were not different from the HUVECs that we isolated from umbilical cords at passage 1.
