Company:

Thermo Scientific

Product Name:

Compact Digital Mini Rotator

Catalog Number:

88880025

This product is frequently used in our lab for incubation and/or washing of membranes for Western Blots. It was chosen because it is quiet, compact, and has a good range of rotation speeds.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Western blots

Starting Material

PVDF membrane in plastic box

Protocol Overview

For incubation of membrane with antibody, set speed to 50-60 rpm. Can be done overnight at 4 degrees or for 1.5 - 2 hours at room temperature. For washes, set speed to 100 rpm.

Tips

Don't use flasks or tall containers at high speeds without something to hold them.

Results Summary

We achieve cleaner Western blot results, i.e. less background, when membranes are washed thoroughly and when the membrane is rocked or rotated during incubation of the antibodies. This piece of equipment enables that.

Features Summary

Small enough to be placed at 4 degrees, if needed, and very quiet.
