Company:

Invitrogen by Thermo Fisher Scientific

Product Name:

AlamarBlue® Cell Viability Reagent

Catalog Number:

DAL1025

We use this reagent in cytotoxicity assays where we test different antibody-drug conjugates for their ability to specifically kill HIV infected cells.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Cytotoxicity assay

Starting Material

Different treatment groups of activated ACH2 cells

Protocol Overview

At endpoint of cytotoxicity experiment add the alamar blue reagent directly to the wells containing cells. Incubate the plate(s) at 37C until colorimetric change is visible in wells that are a positive control for viable cells (incubation time can depend on the cell types used). Read fluorescence or absorbance on the appropriate plate reader.

Tips

If using adherent cells can wash the cells and re-do the experiment. This is useful if you perhaps let the reaction go on for too long and you can not detect a difference between different treatment groups.

Results Summary

Easy to read results, easy analysis. With some optimization of incubation time you can achieve very clean data of cell viability.
