Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Science education

Starting Material

Bacterial plasmid

Protocol Overview

The kit is designed to demonstrate microbiological concepts such as antibiotic susceptibility and resistance, colony formation, transformation, and gene expression.

Tips

My daughter had trouble with geting 2 ml in the squeegees, so a team approach doing the experiment will probably be successful with elementary and middle schoolers. More than enough plates are given and students shoudl be encouraged to culture their fingers, tongues etc. to see what they can grow

Results Summary

As can be seen in the photo, we grew transformed colonies that fluoresced under UV light.
