Company:

Vector Laboratories

Product Name:

Maackia amurensis lectin II (MAL II)

Catalog Number:

L-1260

I have been trying to isolated the specific glycoprotein using this lectin. It has been successfully done although I had to get optimum elution buffer empirically. I ordered this protein again to expand my experiment. I hope this works for me.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Purification of specific glycoprotein using lectin

Starting Material

A glycoprotein from human tissues (endothelial cells)

Protocol Overview

In order to isolate the specifically glycosylated protein from the mixture of several glycosylated forms of the glycoprotein, the lectin that specifically binds to one specific glycosylated motif in the mixture of glycosylation in the protein has been used .

Tips

Not really.

Results Summary

I could separate specific glycosylation from non-binding glycosylation although the elution buffer should be optimized.

Summary

The Good

This lectin binds to the one specific glycomotif, which enable to purify the glycosylated protein from the mixture.

The Bad

The binding between lectin and the target glycoprotein was quite strong, which took quite long time to make a separation.

The Bottom Line

This lectin works well. However, it binds to the target too strongly.
