In the lab, we routinely purify large amounts of plasmids for lentiviral transfection of CD8 T cells to engineer their specificity against immunodominant HIV-1 peptides, and enhance their anti-HIV activity. As such, we use E coli and the maxiprep system to grow and purify the plasmids of interest.
