I used this kit to determine the relative level of contamination in my cell line after sending for a service that confirmed the presence of mycoplasma. The kit is reasonably priced, efficient and fast. Would highly recommend.
Mycoplasma detection by PCR
Conditioned media taken directly from cell culture plate
A small aliquot of conditioned media is added to a pre-designed, pre-pipetted PCR mix, in addition to DNA polymerase. A positive control sample is provided, and a negative control tube can be generated by adding DNA-free water to one sample tube. The tubes are incubated for 5 minutes, spun down and run in a thermal cycler (~1.5 hrs). The PCR products are evaluated on 1.5% agarose gel.
I specifically used Sigma's DNA polymerase, as directed.
Clear, easy to interpret bands were identified on the gel. It was easy to see which samples were negative or positive compared with the controls.

A little expensive, but worth the piece of mind
