Company:

Cell Signaling

Product Name:

EGF Receptor (C74B9) Rabbit Antibody

Catalog Number:

2646

The rabbit anti-EGFR antibody #2646 from Cell Signaling is used in our lab routinely to detect EGFR in the lysates of human tumor cells. The antibody consistently produces excellent results in western blotting: EGFR is detected as a single band with the expected mol. wt. of ~180 kDa.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Applications

Western Blot

Sample

Tumor cell lysates

Primary Incubation

Overnight, at 4-8 degrees Celsius, with rocking, at 1 ug/mL in 5% milk/PBS/0.05% Tween 20

Blocking Agent

5% milk in PBS/0.05% Tween-20 (5% milk/PBS/Tw)

Secondary Incubation

Goat anti-rabbit antibody conjugated with HRP at 1:5,000 in 5% milk/PBS/Tw

Tertiary Incubation

None

Detection

SuperSignal West Pico Chemiluminescent Substrate (Thermo Scientific)

Results Summary

The rabbit antibody #2646 from Cell Signaling detects EGFR as a single band with the expected mol. wt. of ~180 kDa. The antibody works consistently and is highly specific.

Additional Notes

The antibody can be reused multiple times if stored at -20oC after blottings.

Summary

The Good

The antibody is highly sensitive and specific (does not produce any non-specific bands).

The Bad

None detected

The Bottom Line

This antibody is one of the best rabbit antibodies against EGFR on the market. I would highly recommend this antibody for detection of EGFR by western blotting.
