Company:

Agilent Technologies

Product Name:

Cary 60 UV-Vis Spectrometer

Catalog Number:

G6860A

The general aim of our research is the development of nanoparticles for molecular imaging and drug delivery. The development of nanoparticles requires characterization to ensure the physiochemical characteristics of the structure. UV-Vis provides vital information regarding size, agglomeration status, and shape. We chose this product because Agilent is well-known for their instruments and this was the best price that we found.

Protocol Overview

We place a cuvette containing a sample of nanoparticles into the instrument. We set up the sensitivity (scan at 0.1 nm - 1 nm) and the range that we would like it to scan (normally 300-950 nm). After setting up the instrument, the scan takes approximately 5 seconds.

Tips

Talk with your sales representative because we were able to get free shipping and setup.

Results Summary

We have had the instrument for ~6 months and it has worked perfectly. There was one time when the instrument had a difficult time connecting with the computer, yet we turned both off and back on and this resolved the issue.
