Product Name:

Live/dead aqua

L34957

We used this antibody to distinguish between live and dead cells when we needed to be able to fix the cells prior to running them on the flow cytometer. Our research investigates antigen processing and presentation in a variety of murine cell types.

Detection

Flow cytometry

Results Summary

This provides acceptable delineation between live and dead cells. The staining is not as bright as DAPI would be, but it is perfectly adequate for most uses. One disadvantage is that staining must be done in PBS, which can be problematic for very fragile cell types.

Summary

The Good

Sufficient delineation between live and dead cells

The Bad

Requires staining in PBS at room temperature

The Bottom Line

Good option when you need to be able to fix the cells. Also works with subsequent intracellular permeabilization protocols.
