This instrument has a wide range of wave lengths and a six cuvettes rack to absorb light in the sample. It is a good instrument for multipurpose use like enzyme assays and general optical density (OD) measurements of various experiments.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

The main usage of this spectrophotometer in my lab is for ALR 2, SOD, and GPX like enzyme assays.

Starting Material

Diabetic rat and human plasma samples

Protocol Overview

Anywhere from 0.1ml RBC was lysed by sonicator for 10 min. Repeated this step 4-5 times, then centrifuged at 5000rpm and collected supernatant. This ALR 2 rich supernatant 0.1ml was used for assy with the instrument according to standard protocol.

Tips

Use only fresh RBCs and chemicals for better ALR2 activity

Results Summary

Found that in diabetic samples ALR2 activity was increased compared to controls

Features Summary

Easy protocol design and multi cuvette holder (6) are the main features of this instrument.
