Zeiss Stemi DV4 Stereo Microscope with LED illumination System is a very useful microscope is used mainly in the lab’s tissue culture facilities to culture specialized cells isolated from a specific region (for example Cortical neurons, hippocampal neurons of the brain etc). It is highly user-friendly and very easy to handle unlike other conventional dissection microscopes. This microscope, or this imaging system is provided with adjustable LED illumination light and magnifying lens for proper focusing. You can have three dimensional views of small regions of neonatal mice brain with a comfortable viewing position.

Mouse brain and other organs like the brain which have multiple regions.

Protocol Overview

Place the brain (neonatal mouse brain) in a 100mm dish with suitable solution. Adjust the illumination and magnification for proper focus of the desired region. Cut and dissect out the entire region once it is focused.

Good maintenance needed for long durability.

Summary

The Good

The LED illumination provided in the microscope gives no heat. Provides very good space for dissecting the desired region using pointed forceps and dissection knifes. Lightweight microscope, hence it can be transported easily.

The Bad

Nothing much, the microscope itself is not provided with any camera for taking snapshots, we need to attach camera separately for taking pictures.

The Bottom Line

Recommended for tissue dissection purposes.
