Product Name:

Annexin V-PE apoptosis detection kit

Catalog Number:

K128-25

This annexin V-PE apoptosis detection kit’s detection method is based on the fact that soon after apoptosis, most cell types translocate the membrane phospholipid phosphatidylserine (PS) from the interface of the membrane to the cell surface. Once the PS is on the surface of the membrane, it can be detected easily by staining with a fluorescent conjugated to protein Annexin V that has a strong affinity for PS. This is an easy to use kit and the staining just needs 5 minutes. Results are satisfactory.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Cell apoptosis detection

Starting Material

Apoptotic cells

Protocol Overview

Induce cell apoptosis by desired method. Collect 1 to 5 X10^5 cells by centrifuge. Re-suspend cells in 0.5ml of 1X binding buffer. Add in 5ul of Annexin V-PE solution and incubate at room temperature for 5min in the dark. Observe the results under a microscope.

Tips

Avoid light when incubating with Annexin V-PE solution.

Results Summary

The kit can detect the apoptotic cells by staining the cytoplasm with green fluorescence under the fluorescent microscope.

Summary

The Good

Simple reagents and fast process.

The Bad

PE fluorescence may not strong enough when there are few cells that underwent apoptosis.

The Bottom Line

This is an easy to use kit for detecting cell apoptosis induced by your desired method. The apoptotic cells showed green fluorescence color after being stained. The protocol is fast and you don't need extra reagent to finish. Results are satisfactory.
